HEALTH UPDATE
Measles update: check your MMR records
In its September 24 update, the CDC reported 3,659 confirmed measles cases in the United States so far in 2026. Forty outbreaks have been reported, and 95% of cases were associated with outbreaks. Measles spreads very easily and can cause serious illness.
MMR vaccination is the best protection. The CDC recommends two childhood doses, usually at 12–15 months and 4–6 years. Adult recommendations depend on vaccination records and risk. Check your records and ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure whether you are protected.
If you think you were exposed or develop fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, or a rash, contact a healthcare professional right away and call before arriving. Calling ahead helps the office arrange care while limiting exposure to others. If you are unsure about your vaccination history, a primary care visit can help review it.
